Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy & Psychedelic Integration Therapy

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a groundbreaking therapeutic approach that combines the legal, safe use of ketamine with dedicated psychotherapy sessions. This holistic modality is designed to help you experience more frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvements in mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and others.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is a well-researched and effective medicine known for its rapidly-acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects. When used in KAP, ketamine helps by blocking NMDA receptors in the brain while stimulating AMPA receptors, which enhances neural flexibility and promotes new synaptic connections. This process leads to meaningful shifts in perception, helping patients gain new perspectives on their thoughts and experiences, especially those rooted in trauma.

How Does Ketamine Feel?

Most patients describe the effects of ketamine as pleasant, lasting about 45 minutes. During this time, you may feel a sense of distance from your body, allowing a break from habitual thoughts and opening space for new insights. While under the effects of ketamine, your motor and verbal abilities may be reduced, so you will be lying down in a comfortable position. The insights gained during this period can be profound, with benefits to mood and neurological growth lasting up to two weeks

KAP Science and Safety

Ketamine + Psychotherapy addresses the root causes of depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions for more meaningful breakthroughs in therapy and long-term improvement in clinical outcomes.

Ketamine when combined with psychotherapy with a trusted KAP provider creates the best conditions for faster, longer-term mental health improvements. In a 2019 study led by Jennifer Dore, patients experienced significantly decreased depression & anxiety scores in private practice setting with a licensed mental health professional vs. receiving ketamine alone.

KAP offers a unique opportunity to address the root causes of mental health challenges by combining the physiological effects of ketamine with the therapeutic process. Research has shown that combining ketamine with psychotherapy leads to more meaningful and long-lasting improvements in mental health.

The KAP Process: What to Expect

  • You’ll begin with an initial evaluation. Susie will review your medical and psychiatric history, educate you on KAP, and determine your eligibility. If eligible, a personalized ketamine prescription will be created, and medication will be sent to your home.

  • Before your first dosing session, we will meet to discuss the process and set intentions. This session will help align our approach to ensure you are fully prepared for the experience.

  • During the dosing session, you’ll self-administer your ketamine lozenge in a comfortable, reclining position. You will be guided through the experience with calming music and an eye mask, while I remain present to support you throughout.

  • After the dosing session, we will hold multiple integration therapy sessions. These sessions are designed to help you process and discuss the memories, thoughts, and insights gained during your experience.

  • Susie will follow up regularly to monitor outcomes and provide additional ketamine prescriptions as needed.

  • I started practicing box breathing at night, and I am now able to really quiet my mind and get to sleep. This practice is now part of my evening routine, and I even look forward to it. I started turning the TV off while I’m breathing because I feel like it really helps me get even more present and relaxed
